The difference between a Dedicated server and a listen server:
Dedicated Server: A server that runs seperately from your game.. usually on a seperate machine alltogether. This is a much more stable option for hosting games with larger numbers or servers that should stay online a long time.
Listen Server: A server that starts when you click "Host Game" from within your game. This server runs the same as your game is your computer has to process teh server and your game simultaneously. Good for playing with a friend or hosting a server while you play, however this server shuts down when you stop playing and is not very stable for having a lot of people or running for a lengthy time.
The default path looks something like this...
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\yourusername\garrysmod\garrysmod
yes.. 2 garrysmod folders.. your game files are in teh second one..
You install ULX and ULib in C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\yourusername\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons for a listen server. For help with a dedicated server, I suggest finding a tutorial as these can be prety hard to set up as SRCDS doesn't come ready to host Garry's Mod out of the box.
