Dedicated Server

I made my Dedicated server for Garrys Mod. Other people can join it, but i cant. it gets stuck at connecting to server and cancels out after four retries. i also cant join in other servers. If you know whats wrong or have any idea it would be appreciated. Thank You.

Hosting your server on your local network?
Or a true hosting company?
If a public hosting, no idea. Should work.
If local, don't use the 'internet' server list to connect to it.
Try the local LAN ip range. Like instead of <your cable modem ip>:port try <192.168.x.x>:port
From server list, see if it's listed in LAN servers.

im hosting the server on my local network. i can see it on the LAN but i cant connect.

im using a router, im not sure if that makes a difference. The IP I was using was 192.168.2.5 and port 27015

The server that your hosting, is it on the same box that you play on? is the the "start dedicated server"button? or is this a full on setup of SRCDS an a separate machine on your network?

I have some suggestions on what you might could try but I'd be digging in the dark without knowing these things.

The Server Is Hosted On The Same Computer I Play On. Its The Start Dedicated Server Botton Thingy
