Stupid filters...

(1/2) > >>

Megiddo:
My work blocks all sites that are related to downloading, anything that has 'mail' on the page, and even this site (for 'gaming'). ARGH!

I wonder how much trouble I'd get in for working around the mail filter...

JamminR:
With the projects I work near/on, I wouldn't take the risk.
Yours may be similar. Just wait until you get home from a long day.

I understand it can be frustrating though.

[WCA]AIDS:
If you find the desire to browse one of aforementioned blocked sites unbearable I would suggest a simple proxy.

http://msn.com/  <- The starting URL
http://msn.com.nyud.net:8090/  <-- The addition to the URL is highlighted
http://msn.com.nyud.net:8090/  <- The URL with the addition

This proxy service will work for most websites, some sites that use flash wont work very well.

It will also work for LongURLs
ie,
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197987278907   <- The starting URL
http://steamcommunity.com.nyud.net:8090/profiles/76561197987278907   <-- The addition to the URL is highlighted
http://steamcommunity.com.nyud.net:8090/profiles/76561197987278907   <- The URL with the addition

JamminR:
My company's firewall blocks outbound non-standard ports. 8090 is a non standard port.

[WCA]AIDS:
I'm curious as to what firewall software your company uses, without going into to much detail and spreading of confidential information of course ;)
