ulx 3.4 and/or ulib occasionally 'breaks'

Sometimes for no apparent reason on my server ulx will be running fine and then just break.
By break I mean you can't use any console commands that have to do with ulx. If you type "ulx" in the console, rather than saying something like "invalid command type ulx help" it doesn't give any feedback. The only thing I can find on joining the server with this error about ulx is

Chat commands still work.

Edit: It seems that commands through RCon still work, but not for any users. Other addons also don't recognize me as an admin when this happens. A server restart temporarily fixes the problem.

I've long suspected this issue is more of a lua/Gmod memory cleaning issue of some sort more so than a mod or mod conflict.
I've no proof, only theory.

Your issue is indeed more severe if no other scripts see you as admin either.

Debuginfo won't run when it's broken, it doesn't give any feedback and doesn't make a file.

I've not ever seen ulx break from server console that badly.

If you're not getting an error, it's probably that another addon is removing the command.

I don't really see any addons that would conflict with it. Most of them are very common and/or just STools or maps.

DiscoBiscuit, We're not ignoring you. Just been out of ideas.
The fact your not getting _any_ error boggles me. Is that from game console?
Tried from server control panel... does your host have some way to show responses?
Tried HLSW or other console watcher? Even vader posting in another thread here gets "unknown command: ulx"

We've seen v3.4 user/groups and ban.txt issues with users with various escaped sequences "\\" causing problems.
Though we wrote ulx 3.4 to be pretty rigorous regarding characters in names (to prevent exploits), it's possible the 'time' issue isn't time, but only when someone with a nickname joins that ULib ucl can't handle and faults out.
That's only one theory. Other than a few reported bug reports, which actually lock/crash the server, I've seen no "ULib/ULX stop working but server keeps running" due to that theory.

As for if an addon may be causing it...well, the troubleshooting for that really bites..especially in your case where 'time' seems to be the random case. Remove all addons... add one or two back at a time.
You may refer to the somewhat smaller list of addons to start with in another thread here on the forums regarding !menu breaking after seemingly random time.

It wouldn't suprise me if the resolution, whatever it may be, affects both your total ulx crash and that !menu crash issue.

Thanks for the help, I have been using HLSW to get responses. That works fine. However when it breaks it only prevents commands from running from clients. Like if you try to use "ulx <whatever>" from your in-game console, nothing happens, and no response like invalid command etc. I also start getting some messages like "Unhandled messaged ulib_sound".
I have checked the users.txt and bans.txt and found no signs of corruption. It's hard to troubleshoot this issue because I can't reproduce it when I want to. What you said about it breaking when people join with weird characters makes sense, though.

I will be using the SVN revision right now, I had rather it crash occasionally than have no administration on sometimes. Other admin mods like assmod and newadmin seem to have too many bugs to handle properly.

Just remember, SVN has it's own set of issues.
You're client side issues really do seem odd though. Again, I've seen the menu stop responding, and other things stop working with "ulx" unknown command, but until now, I've never seen "no response" on client or server when a command is run from client.
It really does sound as though something is hijacking it (whether a bug or another mod)
