How to change the ULx MOTD?
« on: December 21, 2011, 04:03:39 PM »
Ok, noobish question, and this may not be the right place, but how do you change the ULX MOTD, I am stuck with the default, and I couldn't find any tutorials on the web on how to do it.

Seing default CSS? Or default ULX motd?
Pretty sure you copy ulx_motd.txt from addons to gmod_root/ulx_motd.txt, then edit the HTML of that file.
However, its been a long time since Megiddo rewrote the motd code because various other mods kept overwriting the motd.txt, so, I might have it wrong.
You can also edit your /data/ulx/config.txt to include a URL if you want.
See this section of config.txt
Code: [Select]
ulx showMotd 1 ; Set to 0 to disable showing motd on connect. Shows the file the cvar motdfile says to. Set to a URL to show a URL.
motdfile ulx_motd.txt ; The motd to show

It depends, on what version of ULX your server provider is giving you.

I had the same problem, but I ignored it and after some time it just updated, so I assume it saves into a cache file.

I think the MOTD data saves into a cache file, and it is stored there and just reused. My best bet would be to rename the main MOTD file and use that.
