Name Change

The ability to change the name of players would be great.

P.S. This has already been requested before, but rather than necro'ing an 8 year old thread i figured i would make a new one.

This is not possible in gmod anymore since garry switched over to steam names.

The only way a server has any control over a player's name is if the server has some kind of custom name display, like some RP servers.

Thing is though, in TF2/CSS, i could do that in Sourcemod and Gmod uses the same (albeit customized) engine.

The name changes in TF2/CSS only lasted for the duration of the map and when it changed it displayed whatever the user had set in their Steam.

I'm fairly sure that you can't do it in garrysmod. I don't even think a player can change their own name in the console anymore. I might be wrong though.

As far as I know this was only possible with SM (Unfortunately)

I guess you could modify the chat, but that'd break gamemodes like TTT.

We generally avoid modifying chat.
Too many other addons attempt to modify, only some with partial success, and others that totally foul up other working chat code.
