ULX permissions blank
« on: December 03, 2013, 04:51:52 AM »
Hello! Can anyone help me with this weird bug? How can we make it display permissions properly again?

If we have to reinstall ULX, is it possible to not make it reset all permissions etc?

If you delete ulib & ulx folders from addons, then re-install it. It should work. That's what usually fixes it for me.
This won't delete your data (permissions, groups etc), because those files are stored in the <garrysmod root>\data folder.

I'm having the same problem. I don't have access to any of the commands even though I am a SuperAdmin.

You can use "ulx resettodefaults" in server console and restart the server.

Holy ****! After hours of researching it works!!! Thanks! ;D

Please try to keep your posts family orientated. Thanks
(Surprised JamminR didn't catch that yet, he is usually quite good with dat stuff)

Will it reset my permissions and stuff?

Yes it will. Everything will be removed and you must restart the server for this to take effect.
Though, your issue most likely caused because you edited the groups.txt file in the ulib data yourself with a text editor. Though if you did not, and ulx did that to itself, then there are ways to keep some of your stuff if you wish to. As long as you're smart about it, you can save some of your groups, with copy and paste in a text editor... Ect, ect, ect.

This was my server console's output when I did it.
My Console:
Code: [Select]
ulx resettodefaults
Are you SURE about this? It will remove ulx-created temporary bans, configs, groups, EVERYTHING!
If you're sure, type "ulx resettodefaults FORCE"
ulx resettodefaults FORCE
Please change levels to finish the reset
(Console) reset all ULX and ULib configuration
ServerLog: [ULX] (Console) reset all ULX and ULib configuration

If you do not want your settings to be reset back up your data folder which is in /garrysmod/data/ulx/... and /garrysmod/data/ulib/...

I had the same problem, switched to MySQL and never had it again.

My best bet is that the user.txt file was way too big (cause the server to lagg when people joined) same with bans and if those 2 cause problems if they get too big then why shouldnt groups? So yea...

Your best to prevent this in the future would be to reset your groups and keep them small (not 100 groups, make as few as you can...)

That advice is not really helpful when I think about ULX not supporting multiple groups for 1 user (flags) but yea... at least try :I
