Problems Installing ULX
« on: January 01, 2007, 03:54:09 PM »
I'm not sure how to install ULX, I've read the readme, did what it said, but I recieve the message:

Unknown Command: ulx.

I have placed Ulib_init.lua in gmod9>lua>init, and placed Ulx_init.lua in gmod9>lua>init.

I'm not quite sure where I'm supposed to place the contents from the uLib folder and the ulx folder though.
Can I please get some help?

I see you're running GM9.
ULX 2.9 isn't made for GM9, so if thats what you have, get an older version
ULX 2.2 and ULib 1.2 are latest available for GM9.

For those versions,
ulx_init.ini doesn't go in lua\init anymore.

If you unrar/extract both ulx and ulib directly into your ..\gmod9 folder...all files should get placed like they are supposed to.

Once extracted both, folders should be like
gmod9\materials\ULib
gmod9\lua\init\ULib_init.lua
gmod9\lua\ULib
gmod9\lua\ULib\modules\ulx_init.lua
gmod9\lua\ULX
gmod9\lua\ULX\configs
gmod9\lua\ULX\configs\maps

There will be more files in the ULX and ULib folders, but that is the most basic we can get. The readme files stated this I thought.

This question is a little delayed, sorry about that, but you mean, I would extract the files all into just the Gmod9 folder, by all the folders called settings, lua, cfg, etc?

Yes, when your zip or rar program is asking where you want to put the files, tell it
drive:\program files\your\steam\path\Sourcemods\gmod9

The compressed ULX and ULib files already contain the proper locations for the folders/files below that.

Ok thank you, I hope I'm not wasting your time or anything, but when I moved the files to lua...init....includes, etc, it will not work, do you know why this is?

Apparently we're not communicating well.
All the files in the rar, grab and drop them into gmod9.
NOT gmod9/lua

If you do that, all the files will go where they need for both Ulib and ULX.
Then, read the readme, follow how to edit the users file.

OH, I just put them all in Gmod9 and they'll get placed automatically? Ok thank you, this has solved my problem.

There must be just something wrong with my game or something wrong with what I'm doing, because I move the files, and they just sit in the gmod9 folder, they don't move to their correct spots and ULX doesn't work.

Arbiter,
Delete all your ULX and Ulib files from your Gmod9 folder.

Then, open your ULib-v1_2.zip file, the one you downloaded from www.ulyssesmod.net
In it, you will see a lua folder, a materials folder, a Ulib_readme.txt file, and one other folder I forget.
Copy all of those into your gmod9 folder. Just drop them into it. Don't go into the folders themselves, just drop them into gmod9
If you get any warnings like "this already exists, place them anyway?" .. Answer yes.

Do the same with your ulx-v2_21.zip file. Just drop its contents into your gmod9 folder.

Once you've done that, read the readme files for how to edit your user files.
