Don't be hatin on the band geeks
« on: March 09, 2007, 10:22:37 PM »
Today's made me realize how crazy Marching Band is...
Not only does it teach your leadership and determination, we run events like our own show and have to finance our own band, so we do a whole host of events that we work at.

Like today, we had our annual 'Crab Feed' where we sell tickets for 35$ and play Jazz music while we feed people pasta, shrimp, crab, garlic bread, cake, and other such things. I got to be a waiter for 3 tables (Around 24 people) and basically just get some work experience in, see what it's like to have a job.

Not to mention the independence we learn, such as going across the ocean to other countries by ourselves. Overall, it's a pretty awesome activity to be involved in.

Hmm, I just realized how many more threads get posted in Off-Topic now... There weren't nearly as many posts when it was called "General Chat" :P

Don't be hatin' on the code geeks! JamminR has a very interesting article on how they make good companions. :)

I do?

I vaguely remember giving you a link I saw somewhere, but I'm pretty sure I don't have it bookmarked.
Share the link again!

I'm proud to be a tech geek!
(and, wow, I remember dating some band geeks in high school, no details, but, wow)
Think American Pie movie references to Band Camp and you might get close ideas.
Best male friend in HS was a band geek too. Went on to college, music major, percussionist. That guy could make playing sticks on rocks sound rhythmic and awesome.
