Custom modification to Playurl Sound addon

Hello friends,
     I am trying to detect if a song is being played using the !playurl "urlgoeshere.mp3" and if so to set a variable in another lua file to true until the song is over or until it is stopped via !stopurl; in which case the variable would be set to false.
Let me know if you have any ideas.
