Help With Port forwarding
« on: January 26, 2015, 03:00:09 PM »
So I finished making my server and I port forwarded it. I set in steamCMD GUI the network to internet, but it shows up in both LAN and Internet. What do I do? Here is a pic of my router and port settings: http://gyazo.com/d6473edd280f9836046aa7fe320e7a82 (I covered my ip adress)

LAN is how YOU connect to it. No one else (unless they're in your network) will see the LAN connection.
Once you get to know me, you'll find you'll have never met me at all.

http://portforward.com/ - has never let me down. Thousands of games/services, hundreds if not thousands of router model configs.

So I connect to LAN and people connect to the internet

Correct. You can go to http://whatsmyip.org to view your public IP Address, this is what other players will use to connect to your server.

And if Gmod still works the way I remember, connecting to your non-LAN listed server , after opening your ports, will allow friends in your steam list to "join game" in Friends.
Otherwise, if you use your LAN list, friends trying to use the join game feature will end up not being able to connect, because your address being advertised is your internal.

I believe it's something along those lines.
