Gmod server chat delay
« on: February 21, 2015, 12:33:59 AM »
Hi, I made a Gmod 13 server running darkrp and people are complaining when they type fast and hit enter, it doesn't show up in chat. Thanks in advance.

Is it being hosted off your network? If so, what is your internet speed? If slow, either pay for a company to host or pay for better internet.

This may sound rude, but it's the reality behind it.

Moving this to off topic. ULX has no 'queue' chat ability.
It does have a anti-spam chat ability, but that would actually prevent the chat from appearing at all. By default, it's set to 1.5 seconds.
If someone says something in less than 1.5 seconds before the last time they typed something, it wouldn't show up.

The description you give is indicative of lag due to, as the previous post states, network lag / high pings, or additionally, lua chat hook performance due to slow server processing.
Both would also appear in other delayed reactions to (such as time it takes to spawn props).

As stated, likely cause is that company's overloading whatever server or network you're on.
You could test this by removing all addons and running sandbox gamemode.
If chat still appears slow, it's the company.
If it doesn't, it's your gamemode or addons slowing it down too much.
