why doesn't ulx forums have favicon

Megiddo:
Looks like the favicon got corrupted somewhere along the way (it did exist, but it was 0 bytes). I re-uploaded it and it should hopefully work normally for everyone again. Guess it was just cached for everyone who still saw it?

We don't force HTTPS because it was causing issues for one of our team members. We are using Let's Encrypt (https://letsencrypt.org/), which needs some kind of modification to the browsers (not supported universally, but well supported in recent browsers).

That's a good point---I just checked, and while the forums load the favicon over HTTP, they do NOT load it over HTTPS!

(Firefox loads neither, but that's likely because I've only visited the site for taking those pictures on it.)

As an aside: Is there any reason you guys aren't enforcing HTTPS connections to the site and/or using HSTS? Just curious.

Is that making a difference? (Not for me)

FUNNY ENOUGH (for both above quotes)... using secure HTTPS allows the favicon to be shown. (This could be because Megiddo reuploaded the favicon but we'll never know now)

So I'm not crazy! I knew something was wrong. Detective Apple solved the case.

IIRC, Let's Encrypt is in the trust stores of the latest versions of Chrom(ium/e) and Firefox.

What browser would that team member be using that doesn't support that cert, I wonder? EFF/Let's Encrypt should be comparable pretty much anywhere.

Edit: Actually, it could be the cipher suites you guys have configured. Not sure how lenient Dreamhost is about changing those, though. If you can change them easily (if you have access to Apache configs), this place has the most recommended set.
Edit 2: Hmmm... Everything looks good here...

On-topic edit: Favicon works, woo!
