-
I am having issues with it.
I tried sending you a PM, but it doesn't seem to have gone through. ???
-
I haven't recieved any new PM's. Just post your problem here.
-
I installed UMaps 1.11 on my dedicated server, I set the map change minutes in UMaps.txt to 10,
and waited well over 20 minutes in-game for some sort of prompt. Nothing at all happens.
Also, when I type umaps_show in the client console, this is what follows:
] umaps_show
Unknown command: _umaps_chatprint
**********************************************************
ERROR: Hook 'UMaps.Paint' Failed: UMaps/cl_init.lua:9: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 's' (a nil value)
Removing Hook 'UMaps.Paint'
**********************************************************
I'm absolutely sure I have installed both UMaps and ULib correctly, since ULX works flawlessly.
-
Based on those I can tell that the script is not running properly on the server. Please check your dedicated server console for errors. It will most likely be as it is loaded (right after ULX).
-
OK,
I have been using the GUI that comes with Armpit's dedicated server installer, out of laziness.
The GUI console hides all the crap when you first start the server, so I never thought to check.
The error is:
[LS Error: UMaps] Invalid hour in time 6:00.[ULIB] Loading module: Umotd_init.lua
My UMaps.txt is as follows:
"Out"
{
"alertlength""300"
"timemode""r"
"time"
{
"1""6:00"
"2""18:00"
}
"MapList"
{
"1"
"freespace06_v2night"
"2"
"freespace06_v2-1"
}
}
It gives me "invalid hour" even if I use different variations such as 06:00 or 12:00.
Appreciate the help.

I'll look into that as much as I can now, but I can't do any testing on it untill this weekend (No GMod capable PC). I see the error resides in the real time timemode time parsing, and just now realized that I'm not sure I ever really tested that, Oops. I'll check the code right now and get back to you asap.

Would it be possible to make it so only admins can extend the timeleft?
-
It is already.
-
Oh? Any body on either of my servers are very capable of changing the timeleft, so I think you are mistaken...
-
You must have installed something wrong then, because the command is created admin only.
-
The users may not be able to see the auto complete command but I just reinstalled it yesturday and had a user test it and he could extend it.
-
Does this still work right? I'm using it on my server, but i keep getting
Warning: Unhandled usermessage 'UMaps_timer'
in console. Is that a known bug?

I just installed it and the program works like a charm in fighting Reliable Snaphsot Overflows (RSO) in Gmod, but users are also complaining about the same Unhandled usermessage spam in the console. I know that this has been dormant for a long time, but anyone know a way to fix this?
Thanks
-
i run it and yours seems to not be working right, thats why that error comes up.
possible causes.
1. maps corrupted
2. map not on server but listed on umaps.txt
hmm thats about it really.
-
Wow, I haven't looked at this in forever. I'm almost ashamed to say I wrote some of the stuff in there. If there is enough interest I may look at rewriting it properly.
The unhandled usermessage should only pop up as they are first connecting, if it is continuing after the client has loaded, then there is a problem loading the clientside script.
-
Well I am using it for the map reset function and not to actually change maps (although I probably will at some point). I just put the same map name down 3 times--wasn't sure if it would work without at least one other map.
I think that if you publicized this making sure to say that it reduces RSO by 80% (more or less depending on the time between re-sets), and made it more up to date, it would become very popular. If you look on Facepunch, you will see that there are hundreds of posts dealing with RSO, and it looks like Garry probably won't be able to fix it.
You could be one of the greatest heroes of all time!
-
How about, If say 5 people try and connect and they get the RSO the map can auto restart on a countdown timer of say 1 minute(changeable) this would help me out a lot!

That would also be awesome with some other options incuded. I was looking into getting someone to write code for that a few months ago, but it never went very far.
As an update, I'd like to say that Tricky's Tutorials, Spacebuild Public and Factions have been running this with resets of 1 1/2 hr for 3 days now, and it is working really well against RSO.
People would probably like an option to move the warning to a corner, but they can hide anyway.
-
i would like to see a vote extend for users to vote to extend the map when the warning pops up
-
I think I might have a fix for your RSO.
my network.cfg
cl_cmdrate 1
cl_updaterate 1
rate 500
cl_interp 0.01
haven't had any RSO at all since I changed these from the default settings.
Hope it works for everyone else too.
-
I'll try that

Hey guys,
Had this mod working fine on my old server (I took a break for exams and started fresh)
Re-installed and now I get this message whenever I try to show the countdown (running "umaps_show")
___________________________________________________________________________________
Hook 'UMaps.Paint' Failed: includes/modules/draw.lua:92: attempt to index local 'colour' (a number value)
___________________________________________________________________________________
No idea what that means, can any of you tell me what it means and how I should go about fixing it?
Thanks,
Matthew
Love your work by the way :)
-
When I type timeleft in chat it says I don't have access to the command. I am in the superadmin group with immunity. Everything in ULX works fine.
-
Probably a recent update that has done this, But I'll just let you know that these get sent to client's consoles every second.
Warning: Unhandled usermessage 'UMaps_timer'
-
I know this topic has been inactive for a long while but I just want to say that recent gmod update broke it.When you type in !timeleft nothing shows up like it used to.Although it does changed the map after specified time, but its annoying as users are unable to check when the map is going to change.Anyway som1 could fix this?
-
What errors occur in server (and or) game console when you type !timeleft
Also, are there any errors when server starts regaring Umaps
Not only has GMod been updated, if you're using SVN, it's possible ULib updates have broken it too.
Using ULib svn?
-
ULib\modules\UMaps/init.lua:252:attept to call feild 'concommand'' (a nill value) off a fresh install with an edited umaps maps file.
happens after UMaps.lua loads.
havn't tested if it causes the addon to fail yet, but i will return with news if it does
EDIT: whoops, didnt see this was so old. but still, could be usefull as i dont know of any other map cycler.
-
Using ULib svn?
-
This addon is great, just sucks that it is partially broken.I though maybe somebody can fix it.
The addon works fine the only function broken is the !timeleft function which does nothing now. When you type in chat !timeleft I get this error in my console:
RROR: Hook 'UMaps.playerSay' tried to call a nil function!
Removing Hook 'UMaps.playerSay'
Can somebody fix this old but good addon :)
-
Does this still work or is there something like it?
