Tomorrow from 8 am to 8 pm EST, ulyssesmod.net and the forums are going on strike to protest SOPA and PIPA. In doing so, we'll be joining Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative/Action) (in English), BoingBoing (http://boingboing.net/2012/01/14/boing-boing-will-go-dark-on-ja.html), WordPress, and many others.
A list of participants, and HTML and JavaScript code for anyone who wants to participate, can be found here (http://sopastrike.com/).
SVN of ULX/ULib and the archives (http://ulyssesmod.net/archive) will remain available.

I think it's funny everyone seems to be attributing Megaupload getting shut down to SOPA. It has nothing to do with SOPA.
Surprisingly, I pretty much agree with Garry (http://garry.tv/day/2012/01/20) on this issue. Megaupload was a hotbed of piracy and everyone knew it. It needed to be shut down. I'd feel much differently if Megaupload had taken even basic steps to try to comply with copyright laws...
I heard it wasn't passed.
It's still being debated by congress. Seems to still be going strong.

Not attributing it, it's just a sign of what can and will happen more frequently, and more easily, for less of a 'crime', and all of the subsequent things that can happen to other sites who use sites deemed bad.
As a former radio DJ, many record labels sent me promos and radio albums through MU, I know there are other platforms for doing this, but any one of them can have the same happen to it. You let people upload large locked zips, they will abuse it.
