Title: TeamSpeak 3 Join link via Steam Browser
Post by: captain1342 on May 20, 2017, 08:35:16 AM
Heyo everyone,

I have the following problem currently:
You know there is a way to open TeamSpeak from a Website and let someone join a TS server .. now the Problem is you need the ts3server:// protocol for it which is missing in the Steam Browser ( of course ) now how do I make it possible to open our TS server from a Steam Browser window? Is there a way to open Internet Explorer or Edge from it?

Thanks for reading,

~Cap

That doesn't quite work though. The Steam browser can't open external programs (iirc), which the Teamspeak invite links require.

captain1342, I believe this has been discussed before, and the general consensus was that it wasn't possible with Garry's mod. You'd have to provide the IP address to players, and it would be their responsibility to connect themselves. Or, you could provide them the invite link, but they'd have to open their browser manually.

As a side note, have you considered using Discord (https://discordapp.com) instead? No need to pay for hosting or anything, works about as well as TS, etc. I really like it, and a lot of people are moving towards it. It doesn't help with this issue all that much, but at least the invite links are shorter.
