Title: Custom ULX Commands / Server Mail

Since I don't think I will be renewing my coderhire dev subscription any time soon, here are my 2 scripts I've had up there for the past several months. If by some odd chance you're reading this and you have the version from leak.sx, please update, since the version on there has exploits that have been patched. Enjoy :)

CustomCommands v4.5: http://puu.sh/8Ett6.zip (http://puu.sh/8Ett6.zip)
75-ish commands for ulx, to install put one of the two folders into addons.

ServerMail v1.1: http://puu.sh/8EtcR.zip (http://puu.sh/8EtcR.zip)
Pretty cool email type system with a lot of features. Good for sending out server information to players, private messaging, or sending messages to people who are offline.

Mind posting a quick help listing of the 75ish commands, and perhaps the mail stuff too?
Perhaps create a totally random group in a game (server or SinglePlayer, if the commands would at least still show help if not work in SP), give that group access to your commands, than do a "ulx help" from console?
At the least, would make your release post a bit more informative.
Most us folks are lazy time constrained :). Having to download something, install it, load up Gmod, review help and XGUI takes a bit of time to just find out we might not have needed/wanted your great stuff.

There's a slight problem with the crash command, it doesn't work. My friend is hosting a DarkRP Server and i tried it on myself but it didn't work, and then i tried it on another person and it still didn't work.

Are you sure this isn't DarkRP's fault? Cause I can use it fine in TTT and Sandbox.

To be honest there are no errors, I type the command it works it, it show's no error's at all it just for some reason doesn't crash the person.

Use time strings.
i.e. 1w = 1 week, 1d = 1 day, 1w1d = 1 week 1 day, etc

I love you for re-releasing this for free. I got your add-on during christmas, but was never added to the coderhire list. Can finally get rid of the "custom commands is out of date" reminder. Cobalt, you definitely get a +1 karma.

After installing this the chat colours seem to be overridden and don't show the colors of the current teams, they are all green.  Joining/Leaving & ULX Echo's however have the proper ranking colors, how hard would this be to modify/fix?

You're gonna want to delete the version.lua file because it's a bit screwed up. The guy's webserver I hosted that on doesn't like me anymore and changed the version text to something stupid.

I just checked and saw that... that's low.

Anyways, I updated the download hosted on my site to not contain version.lua.

Had the same issue, and after 5 minutes of searching, I found it. Its as simple as commenting out/deleting cc_chattags.lua

First of all i want to thank you for your effort to the community and the users, i really appreciate it!

I have a question regarding the chattags in your script. It seems to "overwrite" the standard commands like OOC, Advert, Yell.
I really love the tags, but its confusing for players and us that are staffmembers to see if it's an advert/ooc channel or not.
Tryed to remove the file: cc_chattags.lua, but it still show the tags. Could i somehow manage to use your tags and could you or anybody that have knowledge about this help me with a solution? Would be very kind of you!

I could if you tell me what file to remove to not harm any other commands i could do that. But i did remove cc_chattags.lua and chattags are still in-game (and my first thought it should be enough with that file).

Excuse my enligsh, but i will progress my english language everyday :).

If the file is gone, there must be another one. The only code for the chattags is in that file. Did you restart the server after you removed it?

Actually i did but earlier host had some problems, i did remove the file before that and then when server come back online the tags was still there. But i did a restart now on server, and it's working perfect :) :o

Once again thank you for awesome commands and i hope to see some more superb releases from you :D, you've my full respect and you inspired me so mutch so i am acctually going to study LUA code language. I will try to learn me self and i also looking for an education about programing but i dont really know what kind of language i should start with. I am open minded tho.

I will try to learn me self and i also looking for an education about programing but i dont really know what kind of language i should start with. I am open minded tho.

First, when setting the url with donate_url, does the server have to be fully restarted or should a map change work?

Second, Is there a maximum length for it to operate properly? (right now we have a url set but now the donate command doesn't work at all.)

I've no idea if that's been fixed, as I don't track Gmod update change logs.
Additionally, Source HTML interpreter (which, Gmod uses) is extremely picky about the html and urls it will view.

That being said, I just tried changing my Steam client to BIG PICTURE mode, went to the "web", "new tab", pasted in the URL you provided, and got an error 105 - can't connect to server.
Might be something wrong with your URL, or, if it works in a normal browser (I didn't test), then its something with Source HTML/browser.

That certainly clears things up!

I guess the best workaround would be to use a shortened URL that isn't HTTPS so it can take a redirect to an https after the fact.

After adding the custom commands to my addons folder then restarting the server, i start to recieve several errors.

after looking through the post some more, i realized people were told to delete version.lua which i did, then tested again, but i still continue to receive errors. I also forgot to mention the error that i receive in the server console which is as follows

SOLVED.

I've had THIS MOTD ADDON (https://scriptfodder.com/scripts/view/463) for some time and it worked fine. Then I add aTAGS (https://scriptfodder.com/scripts/view/612) to replace chat tags AND wyozi's broken tag editor to make easier for myself.

Anyway, I noticed atags affected my "!motd" function and reached out to both creators. Jack was cool enough to circumvent the problem. Now I'm adding these extra ulx commands (not the server mail yet), and the atags (chat side, not scoreboard side) are being affected. I submitted a ticket for his aid, but Jack mentioned something about "PlayerSay" hooks or something.

I know nothing about lua coding, but was wondering if there is a quick fix to these addons? I'm assuming this issue will persist as I add more chat based addons, so it will need to be fixed from the atags perspective, but that's long term, worst case scenario. Or should I just wait for the atags addon to be tweaked?

FYI: I tested 4 addons to see which was conflicting with atags (awarn, rsay, extra commands, restart server), and the extra commands from this thread was the winner (across two servers).

UPDATE: I deleted version.lua (to stop the join sound), and deleted chattags.lua to prevent it from conflicting with the chat. This has successfully worked on my 2nd server (few addons), but the sound and the chat discoloration is still persistent in my first server (more addons).

UPDATE 2: I went to delete the addon and noticed in the news feed that I was deleting version.lua and chattags.lua... so I was like hold on hold on I already deleted these. So I deleted the addon, and reuploaded the addon, sans these two files, and we seem to be good to go. Thanks for the help anyway!

Any way to prevent admins from being able to utilize any of their weapons while in !admin mode?

Although I choose my staff very carefully, they may want to troll each other from time to time, and I don't want that happening at all. I'd like for this command to be used strictly for observation's sake (e.g. verifying if someone is stuck out of the map, or if some one is camping)

No, nor is the thread regarding support/release of a custom commands /server mail the correct venue to ask.
Inheritance and can_target are in ULX for a reason. If you have admins that troll each other, then why would you trust them with non-admins. (don't answer, it's rhetorical)

First part of that response confused me. I have another quick question though, if anyone else could help.

I'm trying to categorize the !thirdperson command so it shows up in the xgui. I set ulx.command to have a category option, but it's showing up in _Uncategorized Cmds. I'm sure this is a noob question.

Also, I granted the notepad command access to less than admin ranks, and they can see the command, but are denied access to open it, let alone use it. I checked the uncategorized commands to see if I can allow the group access, but it seems not.

I saw this in there, but I'm pretty sure you can change the access level when you use the cxgui right?

Hey I am having some issues to load these commands in 2.6.1 DarkRP version, Is this caused by me or is the code changed so it won't load them? Also is there a Crashlog/error file somewhere I could see what is problem?

I already use the warning system, and it's not what i'm looking for. What I'm looking for is simply a silent nod towards others staff about a particluar person. A warning is applied and the person is notified of it as well as punished for it (threshold). I'm not looking to punish anyone,

In fact, I currently use ulx watch for marking people who have the potential to become staff. I have other purposes, but no need to point them out. Anyway, if I see someone has the potential to be staff, I mark them, and other staff will be able to keep an eye on them to see if they agree.

Let's wait till the owner of this addon replies, it's a really good addon, because i can finally IP-ban becauze some <censored, keep this a family place> keeps creating shared steam accounts and keeps trolling my server -.- SteamID ban is useless because he just creates another account with shared games.

I've no idea if they work, but seemed to at the time the dev spoke about it.
Would require you to get a steamapi key using instructions in a URL he has in code.

As for this command, /server mail, try PMing the owner and see if he replies/updates with any info.
You're really likely going to need to provide lua errors though for anyone to help.

You really need to research how to run a server and install addons.
Most include instructions inside the zip files.
In fact, this one includes a READTHIS.txt file that has very important notes in it.

Hey, I'm having issues getting this to work on a new Nitrous Networks server that uses TCAdmin as a control panel. I've added the files to the (hopefully) correct folder, but upon joining as Superadmin I see no additional commands. I'm wondering if this is something I mucked up or some snarl with TCAdmin.

Turns out capital letters in filenames was preventing the addon from working.

It's actually really simple, which surpises me that 3 owners can't figure it out. You have to go into the addon folder for the server's Garry's Mod and extract it there.

So far no joy with that either. I'd edit it in the config.cfg file, but it's not updating without closing Garry's Mods and my binds will reset once I quit. I'm attempting something quite far-fetched, but I thought that if I swap around a few of the lines in the code for the tsaycolor part of the addon, it could adjust the order so that the colour would go first, which would fix it. I fixed the problem about the Chat Tags. If you are having an issue in the DarkRP goto (The CMD File you are using)/lua/ULX/Modules/sh and delete cc_chattags.lua.

I made an addon that contains sounds for my server but I was wondering how to make the "soundlist" command find those sounds in my addon (If their is a way to do this)

Nathan, I poked around in the code.
It seems to use some standard Gmod locations, with some fancy additional blacklist, combined with ULX playsound.
Playsound presumes all sounds are stored in /sound (literal server, or virtual addon).
So, anything in addons/youraddon/sound/yoursounds/*.* that are compatible with Source should work.
Remember though, they'd have to be on the server and the client for sound to play.

No. Gmod and playsound expect /sound to be the root folder to search.
 addons/myaddonname/vo/npc/male01 would need to be  addons/myaddonname/sound/vo/npc/male01
Then to play that sound, you'd need "ulx playsound vo/npc/male01"
Or you could just dump all your sounds in  addons/myaddonname/sound/, and use "ulx playsound blah" without the path, but I've personally never liked doing that due to me being retentive about keeping things separate/organized.

Pretty cool email type system with a lot of features. Good for sending out server information to players, private messaging, or sending messages to people who are offline.

this means my players are able to send a message to an admins email correct? if not is it possible to make a report system that sends a report directly to a gmail or something without having to download any kind of console?

Hello, I just install your custom commands I have noticed some of the commands will not work? for an example  !notepad,!dban I am running a darkrp server tho. Maybe I didn't install them, right? if you could send me all the steps on how to install them just to make sure I install it right. if you might have an idea  why it's not working I would like to hear them other than that most of the command's are working and i love it so far XD :)

75-ish commands for ulx, to install put one of the two folders into addons.

Pretty simple install instruction. This thread is quite old.
It's possible not all of it will work anymore, but saying 'it doesn't work" will not help anyone help you.
What errors do you get in server or client console during startup or connection to server, and or what errors when running those commands.

A lot of the commands are simply just outdated and won't work. But as JamminR said, saying "it doesn't work" doesn't help.

they are on my prop hunt server and both are working fine. from what I understand these should work no matter what game mode you are running but i could be wrong. my seggestion is wait for nobody to be on the server and switch to another game mode with an admin and have them leave to test out dban.

where are the messages stored? I ask this cause my admin is getting clientside errors and i think his messages were corrupt .

Mind posting a quick help listing of the 75ish commands, and perhaps the mail stuff too?
Perhaps create a totally random group in a game (server or SinglePlayer, if the commands would at least still show help if not work in SP), give that group access to your commands, than do a "ulx help" from console?
At the least, would make your release post a bit more informative.
Most us folks are lazy time constrained :). Having to download something, install it, load up Gmod, review help and XGUI takes a bit of time to just find out we might not have needed/wanted your great stuff.

Basically it allows users to spam bancheck and on servers with large ban tables that crashes the server, like mine. If you want the safe and updated version of this addon go to cobalt's github https://github.com/cobalt77/Custom-ULX-Commands

Sorry to necro also, but anyone wanting this addon and for anyone that adds it to their server, it's got exploits available to be used.

More specifically, a net. exploit that lags your server out and crashes it.
Also to do with easter eggs.
