Title: Looking for volunteers to donate server logs
Post by: Megiddo on March 15, 2017, 03:11:28 PM
I am considering starting a new Ulysses project involving server logging. As part of surveying the feasibility of this, I'd like to get server logs from active servers.

Specifically, I'd like to get at least a week's worth of ULX logs (up to a month or so) and the ULX config (so I can see what logs are enabled/disabled). The more people/servers I can get it from, the better. I will be analyzing these logs for various metrics, not reviewing individual lines, will not share them with anyone else, and will remove them when I am done with the analysis. If you'd like to donate your logs, please send them my way at megiddo@ulyssesmod.net :)

I'm not revealing any further details, as this is in the "good idea" phase and subject to change or evaporate.

On a related note, is there anything not currently logged by ULX that you'd like to see logged in the future?

How new do you need them to be?

I **admittedly** don't use ULX anymore in favor of my own integrated scripts, but I do have logs from 2-28-14 through 4-23-14 that I can send your way if you want.

Age doesn't matter. Also, how dare you, you traitor! Just kidding.

I've got logs all the way back to 2016-09-09, if you'd like. Is there a maximum limit on how many logs you'd like? I see "up to a month or so"—I can send February's if you'd like.

Send me what you have since the start of the year. Thanks for your help on this!

I can send some of mine once I get home. You're looking for about 1 week - 1 month?

And, ULX logs, specifically, correct?

Sent some your way. I can resend if the message doesn't go through properly—it should be signed with my PGP key, which may cause issues.

I could give you the server log from my last week closed server ... almost 1/2 Year of logs

BUT I would like before i sent you logs that you agree to the following:

1. You are the only one who sees it and you do not give it to 3rd persons
2. You are responsible for the safty of the logs . If 3rd persons are able to read them you are responsible for that.

I just want an agreement to that cause we would break the privacy right of our users if we would give them out when nothing of that above is provided.
