First off.. just want to give credit to ::B!G-A:: who is a member of my community and he does a lot of LUA for our servers. He is the one who actually made this for us, but its okay for me to post it to you guys.
Anyways.. first off, this gun only works for people in the SUPER Admin group. Obviously because the command it does, only works for SUperadmins, unless you have modified your accesses, but the LUA for the tool shouldn't be too hard to modify to allow other levels to use.
What It Does?
When you select the tool from your menu, there are 2 text boxes. One for left click, one for right click. You input the names of the groups into those boxes that you want to use.
When you use the tool on a player, it will set them to that team via "ulx adduser" and then slay them automatically to get the desired change.
Why? What practical Use do you have for this?
Well.. on our server, we have a thing every sunday night where we play games, contests. and some of them are Deathmatch related. Team based CTF and such.. you understand Im sure. And I use this tool (in fact it is why I had him make it) to easily set people to red team.. or blue team. But there are lots of other uses for the tool.. maybe! =)
Nothing fancy.. just a ULX derived tool.. thought Id share it with you guys.
The download is attached.. so you'll have to log in (I think) to download it.

Good idea ;)
But i don't play gmod much these days..(back to sa-mp scripting)
Tell BIG that he should make it read the ulx team file, retrieve the team names, then make a listbox in the stools, with all teams in it ;)
-
I haven't downloaded this (yet), but how do you shoot yourself? -.-
-
hehe.. well.. you have to be superadmin to use it.. why would you need to shoot yourself?
But.. the answer is, you can't.
-
Stool turret?
-
I'm afraid I don't understand =(
-
Stool turret?
Ha ha.
I'm pretty sure that was in answer to;
but how do you shoot yourself? -.-
-
ha, I honestly would have never made the connection...
-
I am sorry, I am confused.
Will this not just make people stay in a team called "Red Team"
for example if you use it to add someone to "Red Team" then the next time they come back they will still be in a group called "red team" or does it automatically change them back to "member" for example.
Thanks!
-
Tom, groups are not the same as teams in Gmod.
I can play a gamemode on one of Team Ulysses servers and always be a superadmin group member, but be a totally different team of my or the gamemode's choice.
Groups usually control access to Gmod commands (Superadmin, Admin are the two standard in GMod)
Teams are totally controlled by whatever gamemode is being used, or in this release's case, whatever the superadmin wants you to be.
-
So these are not linked to the actual access groups?
They are just extra teams?
Or is it that it just adds them to that group over the top of the group they are already in?
because if it is using "adduser" won't that change their access group?
If so...
I'm getting it ;D
FORT WARS!

I just add a couple of usergroups to ULX, and set them up in UTeam. *shrug*
However, some might want to keep their access rights. Nice.
-
just extra teams?
Right. Nothing to do with group access in Gmod.
You could set all your admins to team "Beaty" and all your superadmins to team "Beast",
The groups would still be admin and superadmin.

Yep - allows you to quickly change a team you might also call Admins to something else, but still keep same group called admin.
-
umm wow, not enough details at all, is this an addon that lets superadmin change other peoples rp teams? or does it seperate people into 2 teams? like Red and Blue?
-
Teams are teams no matter how you look at them. Red and Blue are some names you could use. You could also use this tool in RP, anywhere teams are used.
-
Now that I look again, I was wrong about it using 'teams'... it actually changes group access.
t will set them to that team via "ulx adduser"
Perhaps a rewrite is in order?
