Title: votemap on screen
Post by: MrPresident on November 24, 2007, 08:17:23 PM
You know how ulx votemap echos in chat "____ has voted for map ____, say !votemap ___ to vote for this map" or whatever...

I think that it would be nice to have it come up on the screen like a regular vote does with the little box on the left and press 1 for yes and 2 for no.

Code: [Select]
---------------------------------------
Mr.President has voted for
gm_blahblahblah

1. yes
2. No

---------------------------------------

That's just my personal opinion, maybe you have reason for not having it like this. But it it is just a preference thing, maybe having a variable for which method would be nice for those of us who would prefer a menu.

We (the dev team) talked about this for a while and came to the decision that no command that a non-admin can initiate should bind keys.

I think I understand what your reasoning was, but I don't think it can really be abused with there being the time limit you impose. But, maybe sometime if you are bored you might decide to allow the admin to choose between the two methods. =)

Or even.. If the votemap2 command could have a "Stay on Current Map" option that you could throw in if you wanted to.. like

Code: [Select]
ulx votemap2 gm_1, gm_map2, gm_map3, currentmap
That would be just as good! =)

It wasn't abuse we were concerned with (though, yes, this was a concern) as much as it was the possible parts it could leave behind.
One example,
If a player were to disconnect after starting a vote, the bind would carry over wherever they went.
This is annoying, and we didn't want it to tarnish ULX's clean interface.

We understand its nicer to look at, but, was decidedly not worth the risk.
