Post by: Jarviar on July 08, 2008, 12:00:22 AM
I want to get a gmod server running i have hldsupdatetool and used it to get the gmod files.  I tried to launch the server useing a batch as such.
Quote
I:\Programs\HLServer\orangebox\srcds.exe -game garrysmod +sv_defaultgamemode "BoXDredead" +map zs_nastyhouse +hostname "GameBoXD|ReDead" +ip 192.168.1.101

The command box xlosed and server didnt appear so then i added pause to the end still didnt work so how could i run the server?
Im not going to use mserver it don't like me!

Oh and i dont have a server cfg file that ive been hearing about so info on this would be great.

Code: [Select]
start I:\Programs\HLServer\orangebox\srcds.exe -game garrysmod +sv_defaultgamemode "BoXDredead" +map zs_nastyhouse +hostname "GameBoXD|ReDead" +ip 192.168.1.101
That should do the trick, just added "start" to the begining.

Couple possibilities:

1: set sv_lan 0
2: Are you behind a firewall, if so which one?
3: Are you behind a router, if so which one?

Provide me with this information and we will get your server running :D

2. Turning off Windows firewall
3. Yes linksys but we haven't had problems with most things.

Oh, you need to forward your port through your router, or enable DMZ. I recommend you just forward the ports though.

This will show you what to do (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/Steam_Server.htm)
