Title: last update , one command don't work
Post by: Enrico42 on September 27, 2008, 06:54:42 PM
Hello, I noticed that the command !Gimp "...." did not work in the last update of ULX

it produces no errors in the console, confirms that it is applied , but the person can still speak correctly in the chat, his words are not replaced

Which update? Release (3.31), or SVN?
Have you edited any of the gimp statements?
If so, make sure you're syntax is correct.

French server? What would be your interest in future ULX versions having a separated list of strings for easy translation?

yes i'm french and my server is french too ,
in the future, it would be nice to have translations in French, or at least have the opportunity to change things in French ^^

Otherwise, the command "!gimp" does not work?

Confirmed. Gimp isn't working, and I'm concerned that perhaps none of the other ULX commands in server.ini aren't working either.
Several 'unknown command: ulx" appear at first startup, as though the server.ini ulx commands aren't being executed.
I'll do more testing if I have time today.

Megiddo, Jay, Spbogie
I've gone back as far as revision 10. (TortoiseSVN reports we're currently on 17)
This same error keeps happening, and no changes I make to server.ini (saved into /gmod/cfg/server.ini) get applied.
In revision 13 and up, during load of local game, I see several "Unknown Command: ulx" - exact number matching the amount of server.ini ulx commands.
In 10,11 and 12, I oddly enough don't get that error, but, none of my server.ini settings are applied.

I'm starting to suspect this isn't a change we made, but something to do with Garry's 'Fix' Gmod patch for the exploit comwalk discovered and reported.

I believe one of you will need to dig further for me.
Megiddo, you're top notch with the ULX initialization you've constantly had to re-do due to Garry's methods...I'm betting you could find it in a heartbeat.

On a listen server?

Dedicated
Enrico, are you on a dedicated, or listen server?

Megiddo, I tried it in game on a listen of my own.
What Enrico stated happened to me too. None of the server.ini commands were executed.
I _COULD_ run addGimpSay from console once in game, then run !gimp on myself, and it worked fine.
Something about server.ini just didn't execute and caused errors at startup.

Bah (humbug), I'll try it in a listen. Darn listen servers are always causing problems... :)

I corrected the problem, it is enough simply to make a copy of server.ini and paste it into garrysmod / cfg / ..
all work  ;D

Odd. gmod/cfg is where I have mine. Still not working for me.

Megiddo, though not always read, perhaps we should give more clear direction in the readme and the actual server.ini itself that people should save the ini to the cfg folder.
I think we do it in ULibs group and user.txt, but we don't do it for server.ini now that we've moved the default load location.
