I used to have a nice motd but now its just a scrollable black box. The box seems to scroll down to where it normally does but its just all black.
-
Would be really helpful if you posted the contents of your motd.txt file.

Edit: My motd magically fixed itself... i have no clue how.
Edit: Darn it broke again.
Edit: Nope its fixed again.

Okay this is getting annoying. I even changed my motd to a white background except i keep seeing just black as if the motd had a black background and no text. I dont get it.
-
Have you tried loading it in a regular browser (IE, firefox)
-
Are you also attempting to run another motd capable addon?
What file name are you editing?
What is it's location?
-
Thats a very nice to-do list of questions, but it seems that it has nothing to do with my game server after all -_-
I get it very often in other servers.
Any more questions?
-
delete your lua cache
-
wheres that?
-
I get it very often in other servers.
Wait, you mean you see blank/no or dark text pages in MOTD when joining other servers not related to yours?
Then, your issue most likely lies in internet explorer someway, somehow.
Gmod uses Source html interpreter; which in turn uses a very dumbed down version of the Internet explorer on your local machine.
If something is wrong/different/quirky about your local machine internet explorer, this would also affect GMod or any other game that uses html motd within Source.
-
Oh... Soooo.... How would/should i fix it...?
-
Do you have IE installed? What version do you have?
-
Yes i have IE and its version 8.
-
Perhaps Source has problems with version 8.
-
Troubleshooting IE is difficult, no matter what version.
I've seen past posts at Facepunch, and a quick google found Steam forums, with people complaining of issues with 8; but not everyone has those issues. Hit or miss.
Many AntiVirus applications set a proxy for IE that may cause problems with other applications that use components of IE (such as Source games)
Many malware/virus appllications do the same.
Clean your Internet explorer cache, delete all the temp files, using the Tools:Options:delete files button within IE, and then find instructions on how to delete the files manually (as of V6, the files could still become corrupt..not sure about 7 and 8)
Tons of other things to try, google terms like "internet explorer" and clean or cache or corruption. "not loading pages"
-
Well that's a mouthful. There shouldn't be much to clan because i have probably opened internet explorer once or twice i'm my computers whole life. Including when i opened it to check what version it is.
-
The new update doesn't seem to have changed much, except it eliminated the purple and black texture i always see behind the scrollbar.
