Title: Access Problems
Post by: chaosbringer28 on March 28, 2010, 05:55:15 PM: Ok so I can't access most of my admin commands and menus and etc., I've tried following both the FAQ one and another topic from a user who had the same problem, I'm using the SVN of ULX. I've found the admin menu that controls prop, entities, ragdolls, etc. amount as well as all talk and noclip and such still works but none of the other menus do. Whenever I try to run client console commands most of them are met with Unauthed user lua errors. I've also tried adding myself using the server console, and of corse by adding myself in the Users.txt file (tried doing both at same time, and one or the other).

Post by: Megiddo on March 28, 2010, 06:47:40 PM: So you can't use the "ulx menu" command? When you type that in your client console, what does it say? Copy and paste from the point you entered it into console to where you get a message back.

While you're connected to the server, run this at the client console and give us the results:

Post by: Megiddo on March 29, 2010, 04:58:41 PM: Okay, what's happening here is that your client isn't receiving the ULib data it needs to function properly. If you make other people superadmins on your server, do they have the same problem?

Post by: chaosbringer28 on March 29, 2010, 05:04:32 PM: I do not know, I have not tried that yet. One thing I have found that if I run the console version of the commands (Ex. ULX Jail <player name>) does work yet I still get the error code I mentioned earlier, though the menus still won't work.

Ok recently I unistalled ULX and ULib and reinstalled it to see if i could get it working, I also added someone to the admin list, but now nothing is working. I used server console to add my friend and it worked fine, but now none of the ULX commands respond, I type in ulx menu and nothing happens not even the error, ulx help still nothing.

Let us know either way. You can remove addons by just moving the folders for the addons somewhere else temporarily.

Unfortunately not, move them to another folder or make a new folder under addons named 'tmp' (or whatever you want) and move the addon folders there.

Your debug attachment shows 27 people authorized, but only 3 people connected. That isn't normal.

You're running a normal hlds gmod server from a command prompt, right? Not some tweaked or hacked copy?

you need assmod aswell
no it doesnt cause a conflict
all you need to do is remove everything that will show that you have assmod on the server
and it will look like there is no problems :)

when you type !menu you get an error saying Unauthed User
What assmod is doing is authing you to be authed to use ulx
its just something i recommend you doing until the ulx dev team fix this error :)

To add a user, use the 'ulx adduser' command. You don't need to use another mod to add a user for you, that's really overkill.

You don't understand.
This isn't a 'bug' in ULX.
If anything, it's a bug in Assmod.
You see, when you type a "!" chat command in ULX that you don't have access to, ULX STILL lets the text get sent to other mods, the server, while giving you a message stating you don't have access.
However, When Assmod sees the "!" chat text, it stops whether you have access or not, and other mods and the server can't see the text.

We can't fix what Assmod does. Sorry.
