I would like for the admins/ super admin groups to be able to communicate through team speak, or even through the (i believe) ULX @ command.
As it is, the @ command claims to speak to all Admins, but none of my Admins are receiving my messages, and I (as Superadmin) don't receive theirs.
SVN everything, and I am using UTeam.

If I remember correctly, there is an access tag you need to give to your groups in order for them to see the admin chats-- I believe it's called "ulx seeasay" (You should be able to see it in the permissions manager in XGUI, in the "Other" category)

Thank you much!
For some reason I don't have an Options tab, so I just added it to ulib's groups.txt, have yet to try it, but I'm sure it'll be fine. If not, well, you'll be seeing me again ;D
-
No problem! Glad to help :D
The permissions manager should be under the "Groups" tab, and if you don't have that, then you should try making sure you have access to "xgui_managegroups" access

Though perhaps we hope not to see you regarding this specific issue, seeing you is always a pleasure. :)
It helps remind us there is intelligent life beyond our team mates. :P

It did work, and I did find my options tab (how handy is that? Options tab is nice!)
@JamminR, LOL ... Do you guys have a server of your own? I'd love to drop by now and then.
As it is, my server is the only one I enjoy going to because every other one is just pure 10-year-old insanity. :o

Re: Server.
Unfortunately, no. Not a Gmod one.
Megiddo hosted one many moon's ago. Gmod was too unstable, the few who had direct access to restarting it kept busy elsewhere, and it ended up going the wayside due to our other demanding hobbies (work, school, family, etc. :P )
The other two major communities we were intertwined with that ran servers also went the wayside.
Host of one that had been hosting on a fast home-network-not-fiber-but-almost-fiber-speeds company moved cross country to a place he could barely get DSL.
(Location Location Location!)
The other, well, he felt the need to serve us, uh, er, his country in the military. I think he's still somewhat interested, just all his time is spent peeling potatoes (he claims some other special work, we all know it's potatoes). If he doesn't become a lifer, he's out in 2012 I think.
(Though joking, Respect to our former Gmod brother/sister communities, you know who you are!)

Hahaha! I feel like I just got a quick Ulysses history lesson in a paragraph ;D
I'm about 2 years deep in gmod, and from what I hear Ulysses has been around since the beginning (or close to it?)
I currently can only get 8 players on mine, and that sort of pushes it, but I like it's modesty. We've got a tight knit group of regulars, so thats nice.
I'm amazed that there's a core group of you still working on these projects even without the same enthusiasm towards gmod that you once had, thanks for all you do!
If any of you ever get the itch to play gmod (outside the safety of single player), you're welcome any time.

The name "Ulysses" hasn't been used since the start, but as a whole our projects have been around since about a month after the first gmod (Jan 2005).
Thanks for the compliment, I think it's the only thing that keeps us going anymore. :)

I just went back to the first message I ever sent Megiddo offering myself as a test dumm, uh, er, beta tester.
Wow. Nostalgia.

Not quite 5 years. I'd been bumming around the forums a few weeks before that, ULX v1 was going strong, and Gmod Lua (which started in v9) was 99% server-side. I'd grown to love non-lua project he was a part of in Gmod v7. Forget which version I actually started with. (v4?). It was many versions before it went to Steam.

Haha thats awesome!
Are there any addons from the past that you are missing now?
All I can relate to is the hey day of hacking the first iphone, there are a few apps that I wish I could still get/use!

Probably tons I can't remember. I just browsed a folder of old stuff I have sitting on a CD of mostly personal and Ulysses stuff.
Here's one that might cause Megiddo's memory to perk up - Cause and Effect
It had more potential than I ever used, but basically, allowed complete (or at least almost) control of Source's input/output system for entities.
Think wire inputs/outputs, but using Source controls, and in Gmod 9 when all items were server side. Long before wire was probably a dream in the original author's mind.
Just went looking through the old v1 release forums. (Wow, forgot some of that stuff too.)
I remember user 'Golden-Death' having some pretty nice fun scripts of various stuff.
Shame he decided to stop coding here.
Of all the stuff there, I could imagine a new redone 'Find player' script. I'm thinking with all the advancement of Glua, not just an arrow that goes towards the player, but an actual 'square' or 'circle' texture of some sort, that only you see by default, that leads you to the player you as an admin are looking for. Up/around walls, whatever.
One dream I never saw Megiddo complete for various reasons, Ulysses Universe.
A lua project that would allow maps with spherical/3d shaped globes in an environment, and allow the player to walk around that shape with the center of gravity being internal to that shape. It had many reasons it fell the wayside, a big chunk of that the Source engine just not being made for more than one gravity source.
All I can relate to is the hey day of hacking the first iphone, there are a few apps that I wish I could still get/use!
You darn kids.
Get off my lawn.
-
Oh man, that gravity thing sounds like it would be such a fun idea!
I don't play space build, but I'm sure those guys would love something like that
But yeah, I've done some mapping, and I know that there are MANY limitations to the source engine. And that there are some hacky ways to do things, as well. I just don't know enough to really explore any of them.
I figure if I were a little younger and didn't have so many other things on my plate I would learn to code. Back in the day, all I chose to learn was HTML and CSS... And then I've got a general knowledge of how most code works, so I can *sometimes* figure things like PHP or LUA out... But its seriously pulling teeth. ;D
-
Oddly enough, I was just talking about UCause (Cause and Effect) with Stickly Man the other day. I never thought about the comparison of it to Wire, but I guess it was somewhat similar... :)
It really is a shame that Ulysses Universe wasn't seen through to completion, but here's some distracting pixel art instead!

LOL
So Minecraft is where you guys hang now, I see how it is! :P
