Title: Loading Screen
Post by: Digital Spit on May 29, 2012, 02:21:39 PM
I don't really see this being in help and support since it is unrelated from this community.

But I have a loading screen

However when loading it in game it doesn't show up :/

Could this also be the fact that I still haven't gotten fast DL up and running so it doesn't have time to load?

Possible, but unlikely.
MOTD url is separate of FastDL variable.

More likely, unless Gmod/Source code has changed in past few years re:HTML/motd...you can't load dynamic images, scripts, etc.
Heck, I can't even load that page you linked w/o Firefox telling me I need additional plugins.
For testing, try just a flat html "hello world" page.

Also, and this may have changed too, if using a listen server, don't think you can view even a remote http page connecting to yourself.

Been a long time since I've used/messed with any of the above, so please ignore any smoke coming out of my ears.

I like your loading screen. Though let me make a suggestion, if I may... One a few of the backgrounds the text completely washes in to the background and you can't read it. Try finding a font color or effect that causes it to stand out. Perhaps using CSS3 to outline the text or something to that effect. Even drawing a box on the background to place the text inside that contrasts with the text color would be nice and not to hard to accomplish.

I've created a different image that I've been thinking of using to get rid of those pictures with white backgrounds. Such as

Also to JamminR:

I've tried using a .html page and it still doesn't load so maybe I should try using a different url to host the loading screen to? Blah!

Do a map change, disconnect, and go back, does it work?
If so, I have a script for you! But I need to get it at home (at work now).
