On my server, one of my admins losses there rank when they leave and rejoin the server. I've heard of this problem a lot and since I created my server I to have began to have this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this? I take it that it is client side considering none of my other admins are having this problem. So If you can help it will be greatly appreciated.

your users.txt file is most likely corrupted. Here is what I want you to try..
go into your garrysmod/data/ULib folder and remove your users.txt file. Don't delete it, just move it somewhere else so that your server will make a new one. After that, start adding your admins back to the file one at a time. Make sure you do not EVER edit this file manually.

Ok, negative Karma for me;
I like being helpful, but if you don't even know the folder structure of your own server, there's a pretty good chance that you're not ready to run a public server.
On your server, there is a folder named data.
Within that folder, ULX
If you ran the debuginfo from the server, there should be a txt file within that.

haha, Jam.. glad you said it.. I wasn't sure if I was being trolled or not at this point.
He's right though. This isn't rocket science and the level of intuition that has been shown in this thread is not in line with any server I would care to join. Just my $0.02.

I'm the owner of the server, not the coder. So don't dis me. Also I looked in Ulib and couldn't find any new folder (because thats where you said to look). So I was confused and had to ask for the location.

Look, no one is 'dissing' you, but as a server owner you should be able to navigate your way around some basic things. One of those basic things is the folder structure of the server. If someone tells you to look in the data folder... you should know where that is..
ProTip: LUA Addons can ONLY write to the garrysmod/data folder. No where else. EVER. (Unless you've installed a custom .dll extension)

2. Was that person connected when you generated this debug file? If not, it may not be of any help to us.
3. I noticed at the end of your debug that you felt the need to omit the addons you have installed and replaced it with the disclaimer "You don't need to know this". I don't think that the info would be included in the report if it wasn't something that we need to know. 8 times of 10 an addon is the culprit, this is the reason we ask for that information.

Ok so Sandy's (Sandy <Troll>You Mad?</Troll>) rank won't stay. Of course he was connected. Edited with addons.

I can't find anything wrong with your config <maybe one of the others can?>
Do you receive any errors when this player joins the server or when ULX/ULib load at the start of the server launch?
I thought maybe the escape in his saved user name might be causing the issue, but I tested that theory and found it doesn't matter...
one thing I noticed though in my tests.. ULX updates the name of the player when they Auth. the name of the connected player for Sandy is different than the one that is in the config. Something is causing ULib to not recognize that they are the same player or something and not authing and/or updating the players information in the data file.
Have you tried removing this player from the data file manually or through XGUI (if possible) while they are not connected and then having them reconnect and reapply the users rank?

No I haven't tried this because you said;

hehe, yeah. It is ill advised to edit the file manually you can absolutely avoid it at all. One little slip up and you can cause the whole file to not read.. but removing an entry completely shouldn't be a problem. I was mainly referring to adding users manually or editing info manually.
if you can ues XGUI to remove the player though, I would do this instead.

I removed him via xgui and the problem still persists. I also removed him manually from the users.txt

OK I'm one of the admins for this server and when ever i re add him to the admin group and he suddenly looses it xgui shows he is still admin and it acts like i need to force update it (one time it even just made a duplicate of his name in xgui). again not sure what exactly is happening its like the server just ignores him until told to.
he has also had this problem with every other rank

I would remove FAdmin but it's so useful. Is there anyway to force someone to become a rank?
