Title: Complete noob to lua, php, mysql, etc needs help

I've been a server owner for ~2 years now - I've owned around 5 GMod servers and a Minecraft server. However, mySQL and lua and everything like that still confuses the out of me (hence why my friend is coding most of my goodies for me)

I was wondering - how would I make something where every dollar you donated to a PayPal gave you 1 point in a server, and you could spend those points in a derma menu for ranks?

My host gives me mysql support and webhosting, that's basically all I know. I'd just need guidelines as to where to start, how to do it, etc.

If Lua / SQL / other scripting languages confuse you, the best place to start would be to pay your buddy if he knows, or if not, find someone else who does.
Many ore-existing bits and pieces exist to do what you're wanting to do.
But, I know of no single 'push this one button' system to combine them all for you.
