Title: Issues with installation
Post by: hello123 on January 29, 2014, 10:27:07 AM
Hello

Recently I started looking into this mod again as it was the best one I had used in my previous server. Upon trying to reinstall, both by SVN and direct install of the stable format, this mod did not work for me. The main issue I am having is that when I start a multiplayer server, I cannot even input any ulx inputs into either the console or by use of !(command) option. The console tells me that the ulx is not a valid command. During my previous installation a few years back it seemed to work, but not after following the SVN guide, I am getting these errors. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You're using SVN urls from "http://forums.ulyssesmod.net/index.php/topic,3092.0.html", correct?
Did you also install ULib?
Using the guide, it only shows ULX as an example.
Ulx is a ULib module. You'd need it too.

On your MP server paths, should be
ULib
<gmod>/addons/ULib
ULX
<gmod>/addons/ulx

I am using those two links (the one for ULib and the other for ULX) in that thread as I followed the instructions. I have two separate folders in the addons folders one being the ULib and other ULX. All fully checked out with those links as provided. Even with them up to date, it seems as if it does not start? Not sure if it's in the wrong folder...

can you grab server console log as it starts?
If using hosting for your server, you should be able to access a console output using a control panel, or enable server logging.

(http://i.imgur.com/Mc0KUM3.png) This is what I get when starting a multiplayer game through the main menu in Garry's mod. I may need to reinstall it due to some previous issues unless you see a problem with this.

Did you restart your client after installing it? Do you have addons/ulx/addon.txt and addons/ulib/addon.txt?

Even upon restart of the game, I am unable to use the ULX command. Both folders (ULX and ULib) have the addon.txt.

Can you give us the full path to one of the addon.txt's?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\(Mysteamusernamehere)\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons\ULib

The addon.txt appears in this file destination, of course my username being the steam account name I have.

Since the Steampipe update, most Steam games now exist in the steamapps/common folder, not the folder named after your Steam user.
Try installing ULX/ULib there.

Yes, he is right. If you're still placing things in what you posted, then that's obviously why it isn't working.

As of the steampipe update, only tools will appear in your username's folder.

Ah yes! You were right, my directory was wrong. I thank you all for your help, this is truly a great admin mod. Thanks again!
