Title: Recycling Parts of users.txt
Post by: Bryantdl7 on December 18, 2014, 02:54:55 PM
My users.txt is massive as I use apromote to add people to custom ranks. I was wondering if there is a way to easily delete all users from rank eg. vault-guardian without using notepad++ and deleting one at a time for the next 30 years.

Wouldn't XGUI allow removing users from groups be quicker?
Though it might still have to be done one at a time, would be easier to 'select group' 'select player' 'click remove button' than it would be to manually edit text.

I know of no ULX command to remove mass at once (and, with good reason!)

If you wanted to remove all users from a single rank, you could just delete the rank through the in-game GUI. Make sure you make a rank just like it and make that rank have all the same features. Then once you delete the original, replace it with the "copy" so you still have the rank. :)

I have approx. 3,000 in some ranks. That would be impossible lol

I don't want to delete the people in the rank. I just want less then a million people in my users.txt. I doubt deleting the rank would affect the file at all

Compression is the obvious answer to this question, but unfortunately that's not a supported solution by Garry. :P

The development team has been working on a SQLite version of the user database, but there's no ETA on this.
