Ok so whenever I search in ANY forum section this pops up:

Is this just me and how do i fix it? Let me know!

Looks like a user group permissions error; I'm seeing the same message.
*** Bytewave pokes Meg about taking a look

There is an issue with the search where it allows you to see things you would normally not have access to.
Apparently SMF doesn't have a setting for this (unless it's only in regards to this specific site's setup), and there doesn't seem to be a "fix" released.
Either way, I reported this to Megiddo a little while back and he decided it was best to disable search until a fix was available.

Huh. Strange.
Has anyone yet filed an SMF bug report, er..?

I was going to bug report after testing it, and I hadn't done so.
I just tested it pretty quickly and I can't reproduce it properly, so it may be site-specific in this case.
I sent a PM to Megiddo again to see if there's something I've overlooked.

Glad to hear its not just me! But ya its hard looking for things without the holy search bar

Google has us pretty well indexed.
Use "+site:forums.ulyssesmod.net" in your google search along with whatever you're looking for.
Here, this will get you started - https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%2Bsite:forums.ulyssesmod.net (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%2Bsite:forums.ulyssesmod.net)
Type your words after that.

Alright but will the website one ever be fixed?

Hopefully. Either an update fixes it, or there is possibly something that could be changed (found by troubleshooting or similar) to fix it.

That's like asking us if we're going to fix an error in Steam.
We didn't write SMF.
We all have bits and pieces of PHP experience, some of us have more SQL experience than others, but, SMF is a pretty complex app.

In the meantime, lazy people with a browser that supports userscripts, have this (https://gist.github.com/timmyws/97829c7d4ccf4d3c51d1/raw/ulysses.user.js). It replaces the built-in search with Google. Figured I might as well share it.
Chrome-users will have to save, then drag the file to chrome://extensions manually.
Does the fact that I wrote this make me lazy?
Edit: Of course, search is back 20 minutes after I post this. x)

The streamlining of processes doesn't make you lazy. If you were lazy, you wouldn't have written the script at all; you'd probably have complained instead.

Search isn't back yet. I'm debugging it, so I'm having to turn it on and off to test things. If I can't fix it, I will be disabling it again. Good work with the script though.

I fixed the search feature on the site. It should be enabled for everyone again.
Fixed it.. then it broke again for no reason. I don't have any clue at this point. Sorry!

That's too bad! Google searches work just fine though. (:
Heh. They hide "Search" from the menu but leave the search form. Bad SMF.
