Forced download not working?

 :-\ Well, I put a song in the forced download part of that "server.txt" and other people don't download it at all when they join.

I run a listen server if that helps at all.

Heres the whole thing -

ulx addForcedDownload "sound/Aerodynamic.mp3"

Any idea why it doesn't work?

If you're using sv_downloadurl, it's case-sensitive and needs to be on the web-server. (I'd try all lower case anyways)

What do you mean? Also, I'm not using sv_downloadurl do I need it? Because I turned it on and still people don't hear the music that I hear.

I also put the song names in all lowercase, if that is what you meant.

Just because they download it doesn't mean they'll hear it. I don't believe ulx playsound plays mp3's either.

Hm, then what format does it play? Because .mp3's play for me, just other people can't hear it.

Engine support for MP3 is iffy at best. Wav is what it supports really.

It plays mp3s fine, I can attest to that since its what my Ipod game addon uses. Wav files don't cut it for me, they require a specific sample rate and blah what else to even play.

Sorry if this is a bump.

Here is the error thing I get, It doesn't make them download it even though I put in the servers config file to download it.

Here it is. Tested on a mingebag.

Timer Error: ULib/server/ucl.lua:601: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)

^^^ That, is the error I get.

Also, I have converted the .mp3's into .wav's and they still don't hear it.

I'm off to bed, I'll check this forum tomorrow.

That error has nothing to do with forced download. You're putting these commands into server.ini in the ULX config right?

Also, put your server console dump from server start here.

Yeah, im experiencing a problem with Forcedownload also!

I put the minigun swep into my addons folder, and it looks like this "addons/minigun/lua...." and all the other folders in the minigun folder.
So, i dont want people to see errors, so at bottom of the server config, i write "ulx addForcedDownload "addons/minigun"

and it doesn't make them download it! Please tell me what im doing wrong

You can't specify a directory escudo, you have to specify a file.

So... that means if I wanted clients to download a swep so it isnt an error, I would have to make a separate Forcedownload for EVERY file in the swep, like all the materials and everything?

Yes. Considering there's only two files for each resource (the .mdl and the .vmt), that's not so bad. Adding the .mdl will automatically add all those other model-related files (.vtx, .dx*, etc).

Well, just curious, is there ANY WAY to make it so that it will force people to download entire directories?
