A couple ULX Problems
« on: June 30, 2008, 11:19:14 AM »
Hello everyone. I'm new here so please read this to help me get going. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When I start my Garry's Mod server, it shows up with the MOTD and says "Welcome to our Team Fortress 2 server our map rotation is ...." Why is it saying that when the motd.txt says something totally different? I don't understand it. I also put the modt.txt file into the /Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/bushpilot223/garrysmod/garrysmod folder, as I heard someone say on another topic that it made the MOTD work correctly. Well, it still doesn't. It still says the TF2 thing. Right now I have it disabled by the "ulx showMotd 0" command. But I would like it to say something about my clan server and say the rules and how to join our clan. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

Another problem I have is that any random person joining the server can pick each other up with the Phys gun even with them not having admin powers. It is strange, I reinstalled ULX and Garry's Mod recently and after that it was messed up. I had to reinstall Garry's Mod because for some reason my toolgun wouldn't show up and no tools were in the menu (Q). Is there a way to fix the ability of the players to pick people up with the physics gun?

Thanks guys,
Bush

1) delete the motd.txt file in the tf2 directory, or rename the gmod one to something like gmod_motd.txt and change the motdfile cvar accordingly.

I have the MOTD part resolved, I found the MOTD file in data/ulx.

I am still having the problem with the players being able to pick people and admins up with the physics gun.
Please help, I appreciate it,

Bush

That's another addon causing that.

I didn't install any more addons I just reinstalled Gmod, with addons that worked before, and ULX screwed up.

Also, MOTD resets every time I launch the server. Anything that I'm doing wrong?

ULX allows admins to pick up other players but not the other way around. The other players are admins if it truly is ULX allowing them to pick others up, or you screwed around with the groups.txt file. :P

What do you mean by MOTD resets?

I set it to what I want, then when I start up Gmod the next time, it's back to the Team Fortress 2 thing saying the map rotation.

Put your motd.txt under garrysmod root.

I put the MOTD in the root folder, but it still uses the one in the data/ulx folder and if I delete it, it just makes a new one. It won't show the one in the root folder.
