UClip issue
« on: April 28, 2009, 03:13:05 PM »
Hi, I'm trying to get Uclip to work on my server and I'm having some trouble. I have ULIB and Uclip installed as per the instructions. I am using ASSMod and Simple Prop Protection, but I do not have ULX installed. Is this the reason it isn't working?

I tried to find Prop Protection (the one you recommended in the documentation), and I can't find it. So what am I doing wrong? Please help.

Please be more descriptive...
What "isn't working" about it?

The part that blocks noclipping through things you don't own.

Sorry seeing as it didn't have more functions that I know of, I didn't think to say that.

So you can't noclip through the world but you can noclip through everything else?

No, it doesn't do anything. You can no clip through the world and through other people's props.

Are you an admin? Admins are allowed to noclip through everything.

I'm server owner, but the person I tested it with was a guest.

Use 'path' at your SERVER (SERVER, got it?) and paste the output here.

Actually despite you thinking you have to reiterate that to me, I did indeed find out what the issue was. Somewhere along the line I got a corrupt info.txt file, and because of that, it was not detecting the addon. I discovered this when I had a similar issue with another info.txt file. I ran a test or two, and the results came back showing the file was damaged during upload to server.

This leads to why I'm bothering to explain all this. It turns out that in the case of smaller addons, sometimes uploading them directly through an FTP client can cause txt files to become corrupt, and it is best to use direct transfer through another means (such as file browser window copying), even though it takes longer. Another option would be to copy everything except the txt files, then create the files directly on the server, and copy paste the information over manually.

Thanks for attempting to help me, although it was not something you could ever have figured out without access to the files directly (or through information manhandled from ... less intelligent people I've tried to help with other things in the past).

You'd be surprised how many people miss "Server, please" even when it's bolded and underlined. Glad you got it working though.
