Banned from FP
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:10:56 PM »
I've been banned from Facepunch.
Woah is me.
I'm crying.
Hysterically.
Can you tell?

I replied to a post answering someone's question.
That question was, I don't exactly remember word for word, "why are so many old posts being bumped".
That actual post was in reply to something about a link not working.
That link not working post was bumping a December 2006 release.
I answered something similar with "My theory is that the $5 Gmod sale is causing an Eternal September"

My ban reason - "Why reply?"
I posted in Refugee camp the following (for those never banned on FP, Refugee camp allows you to post topics, only see your own topics, and allows the mods to see what you post)

Subject : I'm always in awe
Quote from: JamminR
I've seen about 20+ Lua release posts older than 1.5 years bumped in the past 2 to 3 weeks.
I not only see nothing happen to the bumpers, but nothing to the people yelling at the bumpers about how old the thread is and what an idiot whoever bumped is.
I saw no bans for trolling or why reply.

I make one post that actually has information and reasonable theory about the Eternal September in one out of many bumped threads, , and I get banned "why reply"
I wasn't even yelling.

Amazing.
Awe-inspiring as always.

I sometimes wonder if the mods care/know where the good mature program/script/model/map makers have gone.
I know I don't see them as much.
No wonder with the mod mentality that matches the average maturity.

Sorry to hear you got banned, was it a perma? No surprise that it was on flaky grounds, even garry is known to ban people for no apparent reason.

Like making a .gif showing people how to use a memory editor to disable script enforcer.

No. Not Perma.
However, I'm planning on relaxing tonight.
It's been one heck of a day at work.
The mood I'm in, I'm going to take it out on my facepunch account, and send an instant message to Mahalis, the person who banned me, asking why THIS person and the bumper weren't banned. The thread I posted in (http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=249683&page=5 ) had several people besides myself banned in it.
I also plan on finding the 10 or so other dead brought back to life threads and verifying if anyone was banned in them.
If not, I'm going to include those too.

Then, because all is just, rightous and good in the FP world, I'll probably be permabanned.

I'll post the full message I send to mahalis here. And any reply (ban or message, either way)

To be honest, I'm not saying I didn't deserve some type of remark/warning/what have you.
But, just the fact that I know of several other posts that were awakened, and the bumpers didn't get repercussion, aggrivates me to no end.
I'd waited almost 2 weeks before saying anything.
I'm now gathering links.

Oh, Megiddo, thanks for the 'sorry'..but to be honest, I'm not fully sure I am. :)
If I were, I probably wouldn't be pushing my luck.

Jay... don't ever say 'guess I'm next' :P
If not 'why reply' or 'stop bumping', they use 'asking for ban' in that case. :D

Lol, I'll get banned eventually. It's the only way to make this funnier for me :P Gives me more reason to stay away from the dread facepunch, I mean come on; even the name sounds like an awful thing.

My PM to mahalis, titled

Bump/dead thread information report
Quote from: JamminR
Since recently being banned for adding an informational link and theory to an already bumped thread, I'd like to respectfully offer the following links for your perusal of other threads that did not get, at least to my limited view, the same treatment yet may have deserved the same attention.

I offer these as I now see, due to my ban, and ban reasons listed by you and other admins in the "Event Log"  to "report instead of complaining about bumping", or "why reply", that you and the other admins prefer to have threads reported than threads bumped with theoretical informational postings within the already revived threads.

I still have the strong opinion that an Eternal September has come across Facepunch forums, due in part, to the $5 sale on Gmod.

This is my report instead of bumping threads.

My 'self limiting' filter was 6 months since LAST reply to thread, not 6 months since original post of thread.
(Though my 'reply to' indicates original post date)
This only covers the first two pages of Lua Releases. No child forums.
Most times, the original post was a year, and in many cases more, older.
