SVN download assistance request
« on: May 29, 2010, 09:11:12 PM »
I did this and it doesn't seem to work.

I have tried these

URL aggregating all our projects
http://ulyssesmod.net/Ulysses

URL for ULib:
http://ulyssesmod.net/ulib/trunk

URL for ULX:
http://ulyssesmod.net/ulx/trunk

I put the files it downloads into my addons folder andddddddd nothing :( I think I may just possibly be retarded BUT that's another story. Lmao.

Those files downloaded should go into /addons/ULib , /addons/ULX, respecively.
ULib would be like /addons/ULib/ULib_readme.txt
If you now have a /addons/ULib_readme.txt and /addons/ulx_readme.txt ... you didn't put them in the right folder.
The step by step instructions from the SVN how to is clear on that.

If they are in two folders like the first example, then what do you mean it doesn't work?
Errors? Symptoms? More detail is needed.

Ok so now I renamed the folders to ULib and ULX (I had it all in lowercase) and the autofill in the console shows the commands (such as typing in ulx will bring up ulx menu and other commands like that. but nothing happens when I put one in, and nothing happens when I say !menu or such.)

EDIT: no errors either :(

No errors on client side or server side? Are you installing this on your server or client?

listening server (if that means I'm running a server that I'm playing on) lol. I'm new to this. But I just tried something, I can slay myself which is weird because I can't bring the menu's up. hmm.

another interesting twist, it seems ulx is up and working just the menu won't appear. I can use the commands if I go though the console for every one, but anything having to do with bring a menu doesn't appear. Also I got a server message saying it was running ULX svn version. So I know its running, I just cant get the menu up :(

EDIT: the MOTD and the admin menu comes up with the non svn version.. Typing in !menu froze the game tho, but !adminmenu worked

For the record, for long pastes like that, it's a good idea to stick them in "Code" tags.

Have you tried adding yourself as a superadmin, doomgiver?

Just tried adding myself as super-admin to the users.txt in the gmod settings folder. nothing. I don't see how that would fix the MOTD not coming up. I have NO menus whatsoever, but can use the commands via console (slap, slay, strip, adduser) and the console recognizes the menu commands, its just nothing pops up :(

BTW thanks for the code tags, I'll remember that :)

You currently have no access on your server, so it's a good first step. Add yourself using "ulx adduser" in the server console.

It's a listen server, therefore should be superadmin by default.
Re: MOTD: For as long as I can remember, the MOTD won't show to listen server host. Have someone joining your server test.
Unfortunately, datastream errors with Gmod right now might prevent them from seeing it. I believe just because you followed the datastream fix Megiddo has mentioned elsewhere won't fix your clients.
Same for the menus, but another team member may see/know something I've not seen.

well it's weird because all the menus and the MOTD worked before, just I tried the SVN and nothing. Also the non-svn no longer works :(. I've tried clearing my garrysmod/garrysmod folder multiple times now >.> :(

I'd double check to make sure you installed the datastream fix properly.
