I noticed it's on your home connection. What type of connection do you have?

It's a cable modem, i'm wired directly into it. .78MB/s UP and 4.8MB/s DOWN. If i could get any better out here, i would XD.

CDBettler, Unless you're setting your max players to 3, you're going to have some unhappy laggers due to your limited upload.
(And unhappy parents/roommates/yourself if you try to surf using another machine.)
I keep the following in my server.cfg file for any Source servers I use. It works quite well.
Code: [Select]
// TIP for setting your rates. This tip is coming from a thread in www.steampowered.com forum. We can't guarantee if it really works.
// In case of LAG issue you can change the following lines.
//
// Maximum amount of bandwidth clients can use (0=unlimited, max=20000)
// Formula : sv_maxrate = bandwidth X 125 / number_of_slots
//   Example :
//     Assumptions :
//     . upload bandwidth = 768 kbps and download = 10mbps. Take the lowest value (768).
//     . slots = 10
//     So : sv_maxrate = 768 * 125 / 10 = 9600
//
// Minimum amount of bandwidth clients can use (0=unlimited, 4000=good to keep dialup gamers off the server)
//   Example : we want unlimited
//   sv_minrate 0
//
// Maximum updates per second that the server will allow. Increasing this value will take more cpu power, 100 is max.
//   Formula : sv_maxupdaterate = sv_maxrate / 300
//   Example : with same assumptions than above.
//     sv_maxupdaterate = 9600 / 300 = 32

Though it's been a while since I researched it, I believe your high tickrate increases bandwidth usage too (along with CPU physics prediction)

Hmm, well thanks for the heads up but i have had more than 5 clients on before, all building miscellaneous contraptions with minimal lag. I'll keep it in mind though.

P.S- My parents don't do anything but surfing the web, they don't mind XD

BTW- I used this site for reference on how many players, my rates, etc. should be set to.

They use a very similar formula for max rate as to the link I mentioned/found.
PlanetHalfLife states; Bandwidth (in kbps) * 128 / Maxplayers = sv_maxrate
Your upload is 768 kbps.
Your max rate would give you up to six players before lag would be experienced (due to bandwidth)

Love your logo. Fun image.

Yea, one of the Admins made that for us. Yea, i used that calculation, and that is what my max players is set to haha. But that upload speed is with the server running, on my computer. I'm am always concerned about our clients, i'm always asking, "Hows the server?" and so far, i have no complaints! I'll be sure to let the logo designer know that you mentioned it!  :D
