XGUI is still in a state of transition at the moment.
You're lucky any of it is working for you at all.

Please keep an eye on the NEWS section (where currently, I'm pretty sure Megiddo mentions it's not quite ready yet)
ULX != XGUI.
XGUI just makes it easier for the text impaired.
