We need to update our tracking bot. While attempting to come out with a nice "all but one or two features you list are not only in your mod so you need to correct your list" list, I found that http://cia.vc/stats/project/Ulysses isn't up to date.
Unless there's another good way to track I'm not aware of

That got left behind when we separated into different repositories... I tried to delete it but the site wouldn't let me. I've just marked the name appropriately, maybe some mod will come along and be nice enough to remove it. The best way to track it is using an SVN client hooked to the repository.

Yes, but I can't point the public to do that without making them go through many steps just to get to the log.
CIA allowed me to do that.
Oh well.

All you need is the SVN URLs do set those up, if you want to do that. :)

We need to try to get our release out soon.
And just for the heck of it, we need to name this release with an E in it's revision name. :)

I vote "Erus" - Latin for master, owner, lord
Fit the summer of "E"s

lol-- A lot of his posts are basically putting down ULX:

"ULX has always been mediocre at best, I don't understand why everyone wets their pants over it :sigh:"
"I cry a little bit inside whenever I join a server and see the ULX spam, its like a rainbow threw up on the chatbox and rubbed it around in a pool of "!@#$%^&*()" keys."

The funniest part is he hasn't realized the the "ULX-era" has only just begun!!

(Man, I'm probably gonna read this in the morning and realize that it sounded much more epic at 3 AM..  ;D)

I've been watching the Exsto thread. (Keep friends close, competition closer, blah blah).
Forgot Ulysses had so many haters. One even used an expletive towards it. Little explanation as to why.

One thing I read in the thread that I don't like and therefore would never use it.
Exsto stores it's ranks/groups/users in sv.db.
I'm sorry, but my sv.db gets filled enough...if I want to edit manually, sv.db doesn't allow an easy interface to do that.

Tell the truth, I almost went batty enough to make my own admin mod until update 82 came along and fixed up ULX. Because not a single admin mod worked. Not Exsto, not ASS (but that's been broken for a while), not ULX, nothin'. I assumed it was because of the datapack, so I would be as serverside as I could with it.

But before I could really get started, update 82 came out, which meant ULX (<3) worked.

I wouldn't have released it anyway. Chances are I would have stolen the entire MOTD code from you guys anyway.

Prefan dislikes me 1) wanting him to correct his original post and 2) correcting other users who have no clue what other admin mods can do.
Whether they be ULX or not, doesn't matter, his release post is still incorrect, and other users are stating they'll use the first admin mod that has <X> features (comparing Evolve and Exsto)
I simply stated that another mod had X any Y features for over a year now. The mod didn't begin with E.

I agree with you, JamminR. I'm tempted to tell him that if he doesn't want to be corrected, he should do his research first... And now it's worse since he admits he's wrong but keeps the false information up anyways. If that's what it takes for him to get users, maybe heshould reconsider his admin mod.

I should start drinking.

In his response where he states his unique features and asks if that's what's making us upset, he ignores the first 2-3 pages of the discussion after his release in which we tell him that all but two are not original.

And Hatred, I'm not being whiny...I find the Exsto's author refusal to acknowledge that he is wrong extremely frustrating.
Our team here has swallowed our pride before and admitted when we did something wrong.
Not only that, we wouldn't advertise our features mentioning another mod in a negative light, especially if they were wrongly stated.

After about 6 or 7 posts by a user in the Exsto thread requesting features ULX/ULib has had for over 2 years, I sent the following.
User responded.
Basically, it's what we've always known that Stickly Man is working to correct...90% of the Gmod admin community is lazy and wants GUI.

I'm curious, and would like constructive feedback;
It seems most of the requests you're making of Exsto over the past two weeks are features that have been in ULX SVN for over a year, some more (2+).
What is it that Exsto has, or ULX doesn't, that help you decide to continue using Exsto?

I ask for educational purposes.

Thanks,
JamminR

Well, I never really liked ULX because of all the typing.
Every time I want to noclip in ULX I need to write !noclip. In more modern administration systems the only thing I need to do is press "v". It's very annoying that everybody can see how I turn on noclip for myself in the chat.
The restrictions and the advanced functions in ULX are hidden in chat and console commands. You could maybe create a smooth menu for restricting different user groups differently instead of using commands.
As you might are aware of Exsto has got an in-game rank creation. This is not something I need as I'm quite good at lua, but it's still a nice function.
Well, I guess ULX is nice too, but if Prefan manage to do as I say to him, his administration system will take the price. Evolve is not too bad either.

I hope my advices will satisfy you
/Gurrazor

I wrote him back and said they do and thanks.
