ULX/ULIB command help
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:42:27 PM »
Hi, im Xx!CntTouchThis!xX and I run my own dedicated server, Xx!CntTouchThis!xX's Freebuild server. I have worked with one admin mod in the past (Never worked) and tried the default admin in cfg (Also didnt work) I got ULX/Ulib tonight and got everything up except one thing. Here is what I do. Start my server, go into it, then I go to console and type rcon_password ********* and im in. I test it by going "rcon say hello". After this I go to add myself as an admin so I type "ulx adduser "Xx!CntTouchThis!xX" superadmin" and nothing. Ive tried the same thing but went "ulx adduser "Xx!CntTouchThis!xX" superadmin 1" and "ulx adduser Xx!CntTouchThis!xX superadmin" and "rcon ulx adduser "Xx!CntTouchThis!xX" superadmin". All of these fail. So I still had my server up and hit alt+tab and went to that console. I dont know if I MUST be in gmod server to do the ULX commands but I got this right when I put a space after "ulx" I get this "[@garrysmod\lua\ulib\shared\commands.lua:1295] Assumption fail!" So I have updated the folder with SVN lots of times. Also I forgot to mention when I was in the gmod server when I typed "ulx adduser "Xx!CntTouchThis!xX" superadmin" without rcon before it "Or something around that I would get a lua error saying im not authorized. Please help me  :D

What kind of server are you running? Where did you download the server from?

/* It  might just be me, but that block of text makes me dizzy. */
Maybe try editing the user files that (I think) are in /data/ulx or /ulib?
That's how I've always done it.

1) When using - rcon ulx adduser "<some_name>" superadmin - ... <somename> must be connected to server/in game. Otherwise, see help for adduserid
2) When using - ulx adduser "<some_name>" superadmin - from in game, person running command must have already be added to superadmin from console (or default gmod users configuration text file as recommended in many of our ulx_readme.txt links.
98.something% of all mods that look for admin and superadmin rely on that file. Even ulx uses that file by default, using rcon is just bonus.

See also Our Fine FAQs.
How do I add a user? - Since you seem to be having trouble right off the start, including with other admin mods, I'd bet its portion two..the GM10 /cfg/users.txt file (Again, thats not even a ULX file, its Gmod..we (and most other admin check) import it.
Having trouble with access?

If you didn't download ulx and ULib from any ulyssesmod.net site (SVN, or www. download page), then we recommend you remove them, then re-install from our site.

The error he's getting is coming from autocompletion being run on the server... which isn't supposed to be possible as far as I know. :P
