What is Capture The Prize?

Capture The Prize is a FREE to join and FREE to win monthly contest where players who play on any servers can win prizes just for playing (no skill required). Server hosts can also win a prize by referring the most active players. Servers also benefit from increased player traffic as well as rewarding your existing player base with the chance to win prizes. 45 multiplayer games and all mods are supported (Counter-Strike: Global Offense, Team Fortress 2, Garrys Mod, DayZ, Minecraft, Battlefield Series, Quake Series, Unreal Tournament Series, etc.). Game Servers do not need to install any plugins. We just need your Server IP, Port, Query Port (If applicable) and game type.

Player Prize

All players who have played in any of the servers on the Global Server List or Personal Server List for a combined 4 points or more will be entered into the drawing and a winner will be chosen at random. Players get points every 15 minutes. The more points a player has, the higher their odds of winning. Players can also create their own personal server list with up to 24 servers in all supported games/mods.

Referral Prize

Server hosts who referred the most active players (a player who activated their account, sent their SteamID and accumulated at least 4 points) will win one of these. You get a Unique URL and when a user clicks this URL, it takes them to the register form and credits that registration as being referred by you. Even if the user doesnt sign up right away, it creates a cookie that lasts for 1 month so if they sign up later, you still get credited. Odds

The odds of you or your players winning is very high.  At the time of this thread post, there are  152 Players, 64 Public Servers & 4 Personal Servers. In addition, the more points a player has, the higher their odds of winning.  This was made evident when the randomly picked winner of February's player prize won because he had the highest number of points.  In January, the randomly picked player winner did not have the highest number of points.  In addition the Server Op won with 31 active player referrals because no other Server Ops referred any players.  That's a guaranteed win for $250 USD!

How it Works

After you register on the site (verify your email and login), you click the "Sign in through the steam" button. Steam will not reveal your username or password to CaptureThePrize.com; rather your SteamID will be shared. This website like many sites on the internet is funded by advertisements; that's how the prizes are funded.

Server Operators (Server Hosts)

All new servers start out as "Standard Servers". Standard servers net players 1 point every 15 minutes. Once you have referred 50 active players (over any time period), all your current servers listed will automatically be upgraded to a "Premium Server". Premium servers net players 2 points every 15 minutes (and as a result will generally get more traffic). Click here for more information.

Personally, I don't approve of the topic content posted above.
The money comes from commercial companies advertising dollars.
I'll leave as is for now, considering MrP did give go-ahead, and Stickly doesn't seem to mind, and, I'm an old anti-commercial fart.
IMO, the signature was enough.

If it becomes an issue where others try to start posting similar in the future saying 'but he did it!', I'll reconsider.

I tried adding a server to my list(not as an owner), and it wouldn't let me because it says I didn't enter a "Game Type" but there are no game type options in the little drop down menu.

@JamminR, I understand your concern and fully appreciate your point of view.  I too dislike commercials, but unobtrusive commercials for something that can potentially give you free money, is a small price to pay.  Also, there's no in-game advertisements pushed onto anyone in-game (its all on website only).  Your gaming experience is untouched and lets be honest, in-game ads are "teh suck".

@bungletrpg, You need to choose the games you play, click "My Names" and activate the games you play (and fill in your in-game names), then those games will display on the dropdown on "My Servers".

I only have Garry's Mod servers. It says at the bottom of the page that it doesn't apply to Garry's Mod servers. So how are we supposed to add Gmod servers to our list? My referrals are having a problem with this.

You can add Garrys Mod servers.

EDIT: I see what you mean, looking into the issue right now.

If the server you're playing on is on the public server list already, then you dont need to add it to your personal server list.

We allow members to advertise their communities and servers. Considering this is a project that he made and runs himself, I don't see how it's fundamentally very different.

Also, contest has a community aspect to it along with 6 game servers i operate (*4 of them run Garrys Mod).
