Androids wanted - Test dumm...er, geniuses
« on: August 28, 2013, 04:31:44 PM »
Life has made it so I need a new stress release. I've been poking at Lua again.
For now, no major new projects. Ideas of reviving some I've previously worked on, or others I liked that were never updated.

I'm at a point with one of them where bots won't do. I need IsValid player entities with real steam ids.

You wouldn't even have to stay watching after joining the server.
Actually, it would probably be preferable to those who volunteer if you didn't want to stay watching. (You're welcome to, it would just involve boredom at times while my nose was buried in notepad++)
Server restarts/map changes could and would become annoying to you.

The average time I have available is 10pm to 1130pm EST (-4 GMT I think right now) Mon - Thur
Weekends vary widely (part of the life responsibilities/stress previously mentioned)

Those willing to just join and be abused with my rcon and cexec commands, speak up.

Android testing temporarily on hold.
While setting up port forwarding tonight, I discovered I'm going to have to reset my router settings to default, and rebuild my internal network stuff.
As I have quite a complex-for-a-home-network setup, this alone will take a few hours (or days as I find stuff Ive forgotten).

Sidenote as to why - Netgear 3500L.. port forwarding 'ghosts'. Seems firmware updates leave ghosts in the machine that won't let you re-port forward whats not there anymore, but internally it errors and says it is, because years ago it used to be - yet, trying to connect, gets refused.
Meh, was probably time I reengineer the IP ranges and other equipment anyway. This LAN has grown over the past 5 years.

Why not use different ports?

28015 instead of 27015 etc.

I tried raising the port range by 50 yesterday and it didn't work.
And I know I didn't use those ports previously.
Since it's being a PITA, seems it needs a good clean reset anyway.

After a long day of work, in between work tasks, I've been re-engineering some of my network topology mentally anyway.

It's true, Stickly does possess many Android-like qualities. Especially in his dance moves. ;)
